Catch the problem before it spreads through your stock. This cigarette beetle trap detects activity in food, tobacco, and storage facilities using a combined pheromone and kairomone attractant.
The New Serrico Trap is a globally established cigarette beetle trap for detecting and estimating cigarette beetle, also called tobacco beetle, populations. It combines a sex-pheromone attractant with a food-based kairomone, functioning as an effective pheromone glue trap used across food, tobacco, and museum or archive storage environments since the 1980s.
The trap's combined attractant design means it catches both male and female cigarette beetles, giving thorough tobacco beetle detection and a more complete picture of an active infestation than pheromone-only lures. As a dedicated food storage beetle trap, it supports serious stored product pest monitoring and tobacco industry pest control programs alike.
Attracts both male and female cigarette beetles.
Works horizontally or vertically, including in dusty environments, protected by side flaps.
Fits inside pallets or below storage racks, useful for warehouse beetle detection in tight spaces.
Peel the adhesive backing, insert the lure, and place.
Place in a grid pattern at 5 to 10m spacing.
Position traps 1.5m above floor level.
Replace the trap and lure monthly for effective ongoing cigarette beetle monitoring.
Check weekly to record catches.
Early detection as a dedicated food storage beetle trap.
A traditional, widely used method for tobacco industry pest control.
Protecting stored paper and organic materials from beetle damage.
Spices, dried goods, and similar cigarette-beetle-prone stock.

Safe treatments
No, like other pheromone monitoring tools, this is a detection tool rather than a control method. Control requires identifying infested product and, where needed, applying fumigation or heat treatment based on what the monitoring shows.
This trap is specific to cigarette beetles using a dedicated pheromone-kairomone combination, while Storgard traps cover a broader range of stored product beetles and moths. Facilities monitoring multiple pest types often use both together for complete coverage.
Replace the trap and lure monthly for effective ongoing monitoring, since the adhesive and lure effectiveness both decline over time.
At least once weekly, and more frequently if beetle activity increases, so you can catch a developing problem early rather than after it has spread through stock.
In a grid pattern with 5 to 10m spacing, positioned about 1.5m above floor level, with no gap between the trap and the wall and both open sides kept clear for airflow.
